About Dr. Roland Buyama
Dr. Roland Buyama graduated from one of the top college prep high schools in Hawaii in 1990. After three years of college he was accepted into the the Indiana University (IU) School of Dentistry in 1993, graduating with a DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) in 1997, and then completing a two-year residency in the form of a pediatric dentistry program. He graduated from the 24-month advanced education program in early 1999, and few months later in July of 1999 he moved to San Diego and began practicing professionally.
He credits much of his continued success as a pediatric dentist to the additional education and hands-on training he received through a comprehensive residency that gave him the opportunity to oversee and participate in various clinical procedures at one of the country’s top children’s hospitals, James Whitcomb Riley Hospital. By 2007 Dr. Buyama was being recognized by San Diego Magazine, gaining inclusion into the prestigious TopDentist list, which is basically an annually updated directory of the top dentists in Southern California. By continually providing quality care to his patients he has continued to earn a spot on this list for the past five years (2007 to 2011).
In July 2008, approximately 9 years after beginning his professional career as a pediatric dentist, Dr. Buyama purchased his own practice in San Diego. In an effort to make quality dental care available to underprivileged/low income children, Roland has strived to accept all major forms of insurance at his practice, including government-funded covers like Medicare and Medicaid. By providing a combination of attentive care, superb dentistry skills, and a commitment to professional excellence, Dr. Buyama has been able to establish himself as one of Southern California’s premier pediatric dentists. During this career he has literally brought smiles to the faces of thousands of young children and adolescents.
